2. Climate Risk Profiling - ISO 14090 Module 2

WHAT TO EXPECT? 

👶 A two-day course to understand how impact, vulnerability & thresholds assessment techniques can be applied in accordance with the requirements and guidelines set out in ISO 14090.

 

A follow on from Module 1, this course introduces the concepts an organisation needs to prepare for effective climate adaptation. 

It is relevant for an organisation at any stage of their adaptation planning, whether just starting adaptation planning, already developing, or equipped with a mature adaptation plan, it is for those wishing to conduct impact assessments in accordance with ISO 14090.

Course participants learn how their organisation can prepare for adaptation, by profiling the range of climate-related risks that might have an impact on their activities, and then applying relevant risk assessment methods to quantify the impact singly and in combination.

The course is designed for participants to begin using the tools and frameworks immediately. These tools are introduced through in-course simulations and mock scenarios.

 

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

• Undertake impact assessments such as risk assessments, vulnerability assessments and thresholds' analyses.

• Map decisions that need to be climate informed.

• Differentiate between the impact assessment methodologies.

• Apply techniques to assess capability across an organisation.

• use systems thinking to identify interdependencies that may be barriers or enablers to effective climate adaptation planning.

• help learners understand the frameworks that support climate resilience, 

• to develop strategic and structured approaches to decision making, 

• manage uncertainties and 

• develop a deeper appreciation of the interdependencies that climate risk presents.
